Trustees

Want to use your skills to make a difference to the mental wellbeing of others? We have exciting opportunities at trustee level at The Listening Centre.

We are looking for three trustees to join our team. This is a great opportunity to join a fantastic Oxford based charity providing affordable counselling services.

If you have a bit of time to spare, are interested in organizational development, charity management, believe in the transformative power of counselling and psychotherapy and love being part of a team, then this could be for you.

You’ll ideally be familiar with the provision of talking therapies – perhaps because you’ve benefited from this yourself, have trained in counselling or similar, or have worked in services which support health and wellbeing (e.g. GP practice, social services, psychotherapy, education).

We’d particularly like to hear from you if you have any of the following:

• Marketing/social media & website/external comms – to support TLC in reaching its clients, potential counsellors and funders

• Grant-writing / fundraising from private sector & individual – to support TLC in obtaining short and long-term funding in support of delivering our mission

• Experience operations/administration/policy development – to support the organization in its systems and policy consolidation

• Experience in finance/accounting – to take on the (fairly light) duties of trustee treasurer.

We’re open to people with other skills and experience too!

You’d be expected to attend approximately 4 trustees’ meetings a year and 3 or 4 community meetings (including the AGM), and additionally we’d hope you could offer around half to one day / month to contribute to ongoing work.

You may find this document from the Charity Commission useful. It outlines the six main duties of a Trustee from their perspective.

For more information, and a more detailed description of the trustee role, please contact Julian Sharples (Acting chair of the trustees) Julian Sharples.
